Temporary text
This notice is a plain-language summary the site owner has approved for the site's Phase 1 launch. It is not formal legal advice and has not been reviewed by counsel. Counsel-drafted final privacy language will replace this notice in a future update. Until then, this summary describes how the site currently handles the information you share with it.
A short, plain-language summary of how the shop handles information you share through this website.
What the site collects
The only way the site collects personal information from you is the consult form on the /consult page (and the short variant of that form that appears on the homepage and About page). If you submit the form, the following fields are transmitted to the site owner:
- Name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Phone number (optional)
- State or ZIP (optional)
- Target species (optional)
- Rod type, budget comfort, timeframe (optional selects)
- How you found the shop (optional)
- Your message (required)
A short technical record is also created at submission time: a client-generated submission ID (used to prevent accidental duplicates), a Cloudflare Turnstile captcha token (which confirms the submission was made by a human, not an automated script), a timestamp, a hashed form of your IP address (used only for rate limiting, and not stored in a way that identifies you individually), and your browser's User-Agent header. No cookies are set by the website or the form.
Who processes the information
The shop relies on three services to route form submissions and run the site. These services process your information on the shop's behalf only; they are not given permission to use it for their own purposes beyond their own operational records.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — serves the Turnstile captcha widget and runs the form-handling edge function. Cloudflare sees the submitted form content in transit, plus standard request metadata (IP, user-agent, timestamp). See Cloudflare's privacy documentation for details on their retention.
- Resend — delivers the notification email to the shop and an acknowledgment auto-reply to you. Resend sees the email addresses, subject line, and the email body, which includes your submitted form content.
- Plausible Insights OÜ — records cookieless, aggregate analytics (pageviews, approximate country, device type, referrer, and named custom events such as form submit or form error). Plausible does not set cookies and does not collect personally identifying information.
The site itself is hosted on Netlify, which keeps routine server logs (IP, path, timestamp, user-agent) for a limited operational window. Form submissions do not pass through Netlify — they go directly from your browser to Cloudflare.
No advertising pixels, no cross-site tracking, no social-platform embeds that would transmit your browsing to a third party.
How long it is kept
Submitted consult-form messages land in the shop owner's email inbox, where they are retained at the owner's discretion for the duration of any conversation they enable. There is no automated deletion. If you want your inquiry deleted from the inbox, write to jeff.jmdesigns@gmail.com and ask.
Cloudflare, Resend, Plausible, and Netlify each retain their own operational logs per their stated policies. The shop does not control those retention windows beyond choosing the services.
Your choices
You can ask the shop to show you the information it holds about you, to delete it, or to correct it. Send a request to jeff.jmdesigns@gmail.com. Because the shop is a one-person operation, responses are handled manually and may take a few days. The shop does not sell or share your information for advertising purposes.
